GM Canada May 2008 Sales Results
(Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days; May 2008 had 27 selling days vs. May 2007 with 26 selling days)
Oshawa, Ontario (June 3, 2008) - For May 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 36,277 units, down 20% from a year ago.
"May sales results continue to reflect a rapid accelerated shift in consumer demand for smaller, more fuel efficient small cars and crossovers as a result of rising fuel prices," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. "GM is well positioned with a range of new GM cars and crossovers, including the award winning Cadillac CTS, more cars that get better than 7L/100 km on the highway, like the Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac Vibe, and eight hybrid models by the end of this year."
GM announced today that it will add production volume to meet strong consumer demand for fuel efficient cars like the Chevrolet Malibu and Cobalt and the Pontiac G5 and G6.
