GM Canada December and 2006 Year End Sales
(Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days;
December 2005 had 27 selling days vs. 25 selling days for December 2006)
    Oshawa, Ontario (January 3, 2007) - For the 2006 calendar year, General Motors of Canada maintained its sales leadership position delivering 421,299 units. In fact, more than 1 in every four vehicles sold in Canada is a General Motors car or truck. GMCL dealers and retailers delivered 36,258 vehicles in December 2006 roughly the same as December 2005. Truck sales were up 2.8% to 19,517 and cars were down 3.8% to 16,741 units. (If equalized for selling days, Dec. sales were up 7.6%, -trucks up 11% and cars up 3.9%)

    "2006 can be characterized as a transition year for GM as we realigned our sales and marketing strategy to reduce the reliance on incentives and daily rentals." said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing. "For 2006, GM saw better quality sales overall and solid performance from our revitalized product line up. Our small utilities and cars, like the Chevrolet Equinox/Pontiac Torrent and Chevrolet Cobalt/Pontiac G5, had strong sales for the year. Cadillac and Saab also saw record performance. We have robust results from the new and redesigned vehicles launched in the second half of 2006, including our Silverado and Sierra pick ups and the Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac Wave sedans."

    "This month kicks off the Auto Show season, where GM will launch exciting new designs like the Chevrolet Malibu, Buick Enclave and Cadillac CTS, as well as showcasing our broad portfolio of fuel efficient vehicles, including the introduction of the Saturn Aura Hybrid and the new Saturn Vue Greenline.

    GM Vehicle Sales Highlights for December

    · GM saw strong performance in the small car segment with Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 up 21% and 36%, respectively
    · Large pick up sales were up 9.2% for the month, following the November launch of the all new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras with Active Fuel Management Technology that can save fuel consumption by up to 12%
    · Chevrolet Equinox (up 38%) and Pontiac Torrent (up 91%) maintained their leadership position in the small sport utility/crossover segment
    · Buick Lucerne continued to post double digit gains, up 28%

    GM Vehicle Sales Highlights for the 2006 Calendar Year

    · Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac Wave were up 7.5% versus 2005 with the launch of the new redesigned models in the second half of 2006
    · Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 were up 20% and 57% respectively, driven by strong retail performance
    · GM increased sales in the small sport utility/crossover segment by 72.5% with the Chevrolet Equinox and HHR, Saturn Vue and Pontiac Torrent
    · GM maintains its leadership position in the large pick up segment with 40% share
    · Saab set a sales record , up 20% over 2005, driven by the strength of the 9-3 and 9-7X
    · Cadillac sales were up 8.7% over 2005 and established a new calendar year retail sales record.
