Oshawa, Ontario (February 1, 2008) - For January 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 26,668 units representing an increase of 17.8% over the same month last year.

"Our sales increase in the month of January is the result of strong performance across our entire vehicle portfolio" said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. "The 2008 North American Car of the Year -the all-new Chevrolet Malibu - lived up to its reputation, doubling sales for this mid-size car. Our line-up of fuel efficient small cars saw solid gains, with retail sales up 23.6%. GM's mid-utility sales maintained the momentum of recent months, up 113.5%, a testimonial to consumer enthusiasm for the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave."

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) recently honoured GM's environmental initiatives for the third consecutive year. The new two-mode hybrid Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon as well as the Chevrolet Malibu hybrid all received 2008 pyramid awards recognizing GM's environmental leadership in designing diverse energy solutions to help Canadians make environmentally-friendly choices.
