Tom Laurie, Manager, Olympic Partnership, General Motors of Canada

Tom Laurie's career began with General Motors in 1972. From that time until 1998 Tom has worked at various locations across Canada in a number of different functions within the GMCL Sales, Service and Marketing staff area. From the fall of 1998 to November 2005, Tom Laurie was Manager - Sponsorships, Promotions and Events which included responsibility for all of General Motors's sponsorship properties in their entirety as well overseeing General Motor's licensed merchandise program and auto show program.

During this time period Tom managed various partnerships such as GM's sponsorship of Hockey Canada, Alpine Canada Alpine, Toronto Blue Jays, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Calgary Stampede and Exhibition, Ottawa Senators, General Motors Place and the Vancouver Canucks and related proprietary initiatives such as Chevrolet Safe and Fun Hockey and the Pontiac GMC Cup.  At this time period, Tom Laurie also oversaw GMCL's support for the Toronto and Vancouver Olympic Bids and ultimately concluded the National Partnership with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

From November 2005 to the present as the Manager - Olympic Partnership, it is his role to oversee and manage all facets of the GMCL Olympic partnership, its activation and related initiatives such as "Making Dreams Possible".
